'A must-read for fashionistas... If the world of authentic retro clothing is one you've never been able to conquer, then here's lesson one - pick up Lynne McCrossan's gorgeous little handbag-sized bible of wisdom on how to track down the very best outfits from bygone eras. This fabulous guide is this season's must-have accessory for anyone who wants to use the styles of the past to look fabulous today.' --Daily Record

'The ultimate reference book for style-savvy second-hand shoppers... Like Kate Moss and other style icons, we love vintage - we just wish we were as good at sourcing it as La Moss. Luckily, new book A Girl's Guide to Vintage by style expert Lynne McCrossan (£7.99, Luath) answers our fash prayers. The best bit? It's handbag sized, so you can pop it in your clutch (vintage, of course) as a handy reference guide as you shop.' --Instyle Magazine

Product Description

If clothes could talk, vintage would have the most to say... A lifelong love of vintage clothes and bargain hunting sustained Lynne when she was made redundant. Borrowing, blagging and begging her way around the country, she found her feet in the cowboy boots of yesteryear, and brought her discoveries back to share. From Aberdeen to Brighton, Victorian beading to 1980s neon, across 15 cities and all decades, Lynne reveals the things she loves about her favourite vintage haunts. Layering vintage chic, gorgeous photographs and a soupcon of fashion history, A Girl's Guide to Vintage is for both initiates and adepts at the altar of vintage.

Cute and handy book 5 Mar 2011
Format:Paperback
A lovely book, with great pictures and useful nuggets of information. It is written in an entertaining and engaging style and, as a Scottish reader, it's great to see so many Scottish cities featured, especially my home town of Aberdeen! I love vintage clothes, but this has shed light on shops on my doorstop I didn't know existed. It is also the perfect size to fit in my handbag when I travel to various other cities around the UK.

Beautifully produced pocket sized book with great information on vintage shops and interesting collectors.
Some of the print is hard to read eg red/pink on black but my main disappointment with this book is that the
South West of England is completely ignored! Brighton (SE) is featured but nothing about the thriving vintage
areas of Bristol, Bath, Exeter and the East Devon coast! However, overall I think I will find this book very
useful when travelling.

Was really excited when I ordered this book, but was a little disappointed. I live in the South West of England, and there was no mention of anywhere that close to me. I think Brighton was maybe the closest, and there were around 3 or 4 based in Scotland. Not much use to me unfortunately. I'm sure there are people who are willing to travel miles for clothes, but I was expecting something with a much broader scope. Will probably never read this book again, but the pictures are nice to look at
