Seven years after her divorce, Megan Lowe can confidently say she's moved on. She went back to school, qualified as a marriage therapist and now she's just months away from getting her license. Except her divorce isn't quite as far behind her as she'd like to think.
How can it be when her ex - Devin Kenney - is now the most famous divorce attorney in the country? First there was the unexpectedly successful radio show, and now there's a best-selling book. Soon everybody wants to know all about the marriage that turned this gorgeous guy so bitter. Mostly Megan can ignore the intrusion of the press in her everyday life, but she knows she's in trouble when they start pestering her clients. When her boss suggests she takes time off to let things cool down, Megan sees red.
But nothing can prepare either Megan or Devin for the shock of seeing each other again. Soon keeping away from her life-shattering ex is the last thing Megan wants to do. And it seems letting go isn't high on Devin's agenda either...
Bright, fast-paced and sassy, this book has all the best bits of M&B's new Riva line. Megan's an ordinary girl, with money problems and anxiety issues, who's worked hard to gain her independence. Devin is gorgeous and successful, but still deeply hurt by what happened between them. Yet when they're together all she reminds him of is all he wanted to be and achieve before things went wrong.
And that's where this story wins for me - great, well-rounded characters with very human faults. Sure, the situation has its glamorous problems, but the emotions and consequences are familiar. A short read, but far from shallow, this is a great story about mistakes, second chances, growing up, changing and the price of success. I'll be looking out for more from Kimberly Lang.
