Product Description

Are diamonds really a girl’s best friend? Danielle van der Straaten certainly thinks so. Her boyfriends cheat on her, her sister drives her mad and her father only wants to see her married with children - despite all the work she’s put into the family jewellery business. Diamonds are the only thing she can rely on.

Her sister, Isabel, doesn’t care about diamonds, provided she has something sparkly to wear to a party and a gorgeous man to dance with. Life is for living and having fun. And if their money disappeared tomorrow? She’d be in serious trouble.

Jemma Stortford can no longer afford diamonds and finds it hard seeing Danielle and Isabel living the life that should have been hers. But when she wakes up one morning to find the handsome Nico Morales in her bed, it appears her luck has finally changed.

But is Nico who he claims to be? And why is he so interested in the van der Straatens?

As the three women are about to find out, sometimes diamonds aren’t a girl’s best friend at all!

A Girl's Best Friend is a romantic comedy with a murder mystery

From the Inside Flap

Isaac van der Straatan chooses the occasion of his daughter Isabel’s birthday party to announce his decision to sell Vanders – his chain of exclusive jewellery stores. Everyone is stunned – except Isabel, who isn’t there to hear it. She is having far too much fun in the garden with rock star Taz Taylor. She couldn’t care less about the family business, as long as she has something sparkly to wear to a party. But her ambitious sister, Danielle, who has her own plans for Vanders, feels betrayed. If Isaac no longer wants Vanders, why can’t he give it to her? However, Danielle is not the only one interested in Vanders. On the day of the party, Isabel’s best friend, Jemma Stortford, wakes up to find a handsome stranger lying beside her and cannot believe her luck. But, having conned two women into bed in two days, Nico Morales is feeling more than a twinge of guilt. He has broken his number one rule – never get involved. For Isabel and Danielle, life begins to!
get a little dangerous – it looks like diamonds are anything but "A Girl’s Best Friend"…

4.0 out of 5 stars Very pleasant surprise 28 July 2012

This was an inexpensive download to my kindle and having never heard of the author before had no idea what to expect. At first I wasn't sure about it, but as the story unfolded found myself pulled in. The story is fast paced and told from several POV which makes it interesting as you see situations from several angles. There's mystery, murder, suspense, humour and of course romance, what a perfect combination for a fun read. I liked the main characters despite their flaws, some pretty bad, but only what you'd expect when you get to understand them. I had a soft spot for Taz despite his obvious flaws and would love to see a book about him and his rock star life.
I enjoyed this book that much I've just downloaded two more of hers so I suppose that speaks volumes (sorry couldn't resist that!).
A very enjoyable read, highly recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok story line, but needs to be more convincing 10 Sep 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I thought the story in this book was good as it kept me reading and had a number of twists throughout. It keeps you reading to see what the outcome is, but I could easily put it down.

I was a bit disappointed by the character development, as I didn't quite believe the characteristics or relationships between characters. I think the book would have been better if more had gone into the character development.

Overall it's ok, but not a book I would read again.

5.0 out of 5 stars A light whodunit with fun and romance 26 May 2012
By Hazel
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Just like Smoke Gets in Your Eyes, Diamonds is a whodunit wrapped up in a romantic comedy. This book has twists you really don't expect, smiles, tears, mean people, selfish people, lovely gentle people and unexpected love.

I always enjoy Louise's books and this one is the best so far.

Buy it, you'll love it!

4.0 out of 5 stars really good 12 Dec 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
this story really did keep my attention, and kept me guessing at what was really going on all the way through. i bought this because i had read another of louise marley's books which was like a cross between a romance and a mystery, and they're cheap downloads so well worth the money

there are a few good twists through the book and it keeps you guessing until the end, which means that its one of those books you have to read until the end.
