Review
Praise for Tully 'Pick up this book and prepare to have your emotions wrung so completely you'll be sobbing your heart out one minute and laughing through your tears the next! Read it and weep -- literally' Praise for Tatiana and Alexander 'This has everything a romance glutton could wish for: a bold, talented and dashing hero, a heart-stopping love affair that nourishes its two protagonists even when they are separated and lost, a long and bitter military campaign, plus personal excavations into the past. It also has -- thank goodness -- a welcome sense of humour and discernable characters rather than ciphers.' Victoria Moore, Daily Mail Praise for The Bronze Horseman 'Pulling off the passionate love story embedded in a truly epic narrative is a difficult thing to do. Margaret Mitchell's Gone With the Wind remains the blueprint for the genre! it's quickly apparent that the Russian-born author Paullina Simons has the measure of this kind of epic romantic saga. The power of her descriptive writing, the vividness of the historical detail and, most of all, the strength of her central characters mark out her novel as a considerable achievement.' But Lily loves her aimless life ! until her best friend and roommate Amy disappears. That's when Spencer Patrick O'Malley, a cynical, past his prime NYPD detective with demons of his own, enters Lily's world. And a sudden financial windfall which should bring Lily joy instead becomes an ominous portent of the dark forces gathering around her. But fate isn't finished with Lily. She finds herself fighting for her life as Spencer's search for the missing Amy intensifies, leading Lily to question everything she knew about her friend and family. Startling revelations about the people she loves force her to confront truths that will leave her changed forever. From a master storyteller comes a new heart-wrenching, magnificent and unputdownable novel. 5.0 out of 5 stars The Girl In Times Square, 15 Feb 2006
What can I say about Paullina, easily one of the very best and every word she writes is delicious. She takes an average girl with an average life and shows how each day can change without our being able to stop it. The disappearance of Lily's friend Amy opens doors that she would rather keep closed, and she is suddenly thrown into the turmoil of life. Happy to plod through her days, she is now unable to ignore what comes to hit her. Something had to wake her up, something had to make her fight, and as one event after another unfolds, Lily is suddenly faced with deceit in her family, lies from her friend, illness that is to plague and weaken her as her mind searches for answers, and finally, unfolding in the depths of all the turmoil and treachery, something beautiful and fragile and pure...Lily finds love that explodes through her heart and pours into the pages on this unputdownable, brilliant book. You will be frustrated, you will laugh, cry, be mesmerised, and at the end, you will want to start reading again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!, 29 Jul 2007
By Boof (United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
I chose this book as it was on a listmania where the reader had also read and enjoyed several books that I had so I figured there was a good chance I'd like this too. I was right - I LOVED it!

I took it on holiday with me as it is such a thick, meaty book and I figured it may take a while to read, but I got so into it that it actually took no time at all to read. The chapters are short and also the type that make you think "just one more chapter til I put it down" and then you get to the end of the next one and think "just one more....".

This is an unusual love story with some unexpected events. The love and, above all, friendship between Lily and Spencer is beautiful and very moving. I don't want to ruin it for anyone by revelaing what happens but it truly is what it says on the back of the book....a story about love, friendship, lies and betrayal. I have never read any of Paullina Simons books before but I will most definitely reading more.

I really, truly enjoyed this and I hope you do as much as I did.

5.0 out of 5 stars She's done it again!, 7 Mar 2006
By A Customer
Love Paullina Simons, Tully is on my top ten list of the best books I've ever read. Was dissappointed when I read Red Leaves, didn't think it quite matched up to her other works, so when I read that The Girl In Times Square had one of the same characters from that book I wasn't convinced, but decided to give it a go. I started reading it on a sunday afternoon and could not put it down until I finished it around 3 o'clock in the morning! What a book! It's amazing, Paullina Simons has managed to write a beautiful love story and a crime story at the same time. The book left me with a few questions, so I hope that Paullina Simons will write a sequel, I really want to find out more about what happens to Lily.
