Having read the first of the trilogy of Stieg Larsson's books 'The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo' and seen the film adaptation I was intriqued to find out from the sequel more about the character, Lisbeth Salander and how her life progressed. I was not disappointed in 'The Girl Who Played with Fire', and although the story took some time to kick-in, once the three murders were committed everything started to happen. One had to have read the first book to understand the characters and the background from which Salander emerged. Once her early life was described, the title of the book became clear. There were many surprises and twists which helped the page turning. One wanted to know what happened next, the hallmark of any good story. I found keeping up with the Swedish names a little diffciult. It would have been useful to have had a name listing in the front of the book. I am guilty in my own novel of creating a lot of characters but I did list them. The last few Chapters of the book brought the story together, the end leaving the reader wanting more. I will be reading the third book in the trilogy when time allows since I believe it is the longest.
