Product Description

'Being aware of people, who for whatever reason find it difficult to read, I was only too pleased to write The Girl On The Platform. Reading is an exciting and demanding pleasure, which I believe should be enjoyed by everyone. I hope that all those who read this story find the same joy and belonging that I found in the writing of it' Josephine Cox Best mates Mark and Pete board a train to London for their lads' night out. As Pete finds a seat he notices a girl sitting on a bench. She looks sad and lonely. When the train leaves, he can't get her out of his mind because in her, he has seen a glimpse of himself. Over the coming months Pete sees the girl often, but when tempted to speak to her, his courage fails. Then one day she simply disappears. Hopelessly besotted by this girl he believes to be his kindred spirit, Pete will not rest until he finds her!

1.0 out of 5 stars What Nonsense, 5 Jul 2008
By S. K. Tyler "Sarah" (London) - See all my reviews

I completely concur with the previous reviewer. This book is puzzling in its awfulness. The dialogue is cringe making and the timescale just doesn't work. The characters manage to get from Bedford to London, book into a bed and breakfast, go the theatre, visit a seedy club and get back to their accommodation in under five hours. The characters are quite unbelievable and the style of writing absurd. What was Josephine Cox doing - having a laugh?

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't bother with this one, 27 Mar 2008
By A. J. Copson "Mook" (Reading, UK) - See all my reviews

I have never seen such poor writing and am amazed that stuff like this gets published. The story is so incredibly cliched and so are the characters. This 'quick read' has no redeeming features whatsoever and I wonder if the author is ironically giving us a classic example of how not to write!

1.0 out of 5 stars Girl on the platform, 25 Jun 2009
Really disappointed. I am an avid fan of this author, but this is not to her usual high standard. It was confusing in its timings, and the story line became more unbelievable as it progressed.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very quick read
Bought the book but didn't realise it was quite so short. When postage was added it wasn't such a cheap book. Not Josephine Cox at her best.
