Due to the disposable nature of these, their cost is fair enough. They are only designed to be a sort of throw-away item and definitely do improve gaming performance when needed most. But after my 3rd pair broke, I gave up and bought EA Sports: Comfort Play Pack with Game Grip Technology (PS3) for £5.99 in GAME. This product is much better quality, being a mixture of rubber and plastic and not just plastic (and the reviews are great).
Noticeably better and more comfortable for long gaming periods
Stay on well
Look good, match controller
Cheap and cheerful
Can take some time to get used to
Clips which hold them on can wear away
Break/crack easily if dropped or after some time
These triggers are great for what they do, but don't last long enough to be a worthwhile purchase. I wouldn't advise against buying them, but if you do and like them, but then they break, invest in the EA Sports Comfort pack, for triggers and grips that will last.
(Updated 04.04.11) I have now had them for over a month and both triggers are cracked. Really dissapointing. I have not dropped the controller or anything like that, they just seems to be made from really cheap plastic. Great initially but down to one star for the life span.
They are too rounded, too smooth and my fingers tend to slip off at the most inopportune of gaming moments.
So when I read about these triggers I was dubious. Could a little bit of plastic really solve all the world's problems? Well the answer is yes and no.
Do they do the job? Yes. When used my fingers no longer slip off the L2 and R2 triggers and they are an awful lot more comfortable too. They are suitably easy to 'install' too, just line up the bottom and clip on the top...easy peasy.
Sadly the downside is that all the pressure of use is place on the top ridge and after buying 2 pairs, one for each wireless controller, all 4 triggers split at the top and broke off within 2 months.
So now I am onto my 3rd and 4th set and hope that I had part of a bad batch as £6 every 2 months equates to £36 a year!
So all in all they do what they are intended to but do not last very long at all but are simply the only choice for us until Sony pull their fingers out and release modified controllers!
These triggers have been poorly designed and probably not tested. Within 5 minutes I realised these triggers would most likely fall off, I was right. They've rarely stayed on more than a few minutes at a time. The end result is I've lost one.
For the price and that they were bundled I'd probably have said you get what you pay for. But the fact I've got the old ones and had no problems with them whatsoever means that excuse isn't going to fly. The person who redesigned these and the person who authorised them to mass market, both of you deserve to be fired.
and they lasted all that time through constant use until they started to wear and lose grip on L2 and R2, so I bought this pair to replace them. The little plastic hooks broke off the right trigger _within the week_, of less than regular play, and one of the little hooks fell down the side of R2 and into the controller, so now I have no right trigger, a barely-hanging-in-there left trigger, and a rattling controller. I don't know if they make them from a softer plastic than before or what, but they certainly don't last as long as they used to, which is a damn shame.
