Synopsis

Depending on one's point of view, Gary Busey either sinks or rises to new levels of crazed weirdness in this low-budget, gore-drenched Z-movie. Busey plays deranged murderer Millard Findlemeyer, who's sent to the electric chair by brave witness Sara Leigh (Robin Sidney) after he murders her family. However, his creepy, vengeful mother mixes his ashes into some home made gingerbread mix and then the mix winds up at the Leigh bakery. All it takes is a few drops of blood to trigger an ancient curse and bring Millard's soul to life in the form of an evil, homicidal pastry. Bloodshed ensues as Sara and her friends are forced to fight for their lives against this walking, talking, and stabbing (but oddly kind of adorable) gingerbread man.

Given I laughed more than cringed, it's very hard to take this film seriously. I do believe their is a place for such material as The Gingerbread Man in 'good-bad-films', but since it's original purpose was to take the individual to the edge of their seat, 3 stars has to the best fairest rating since it provides entertainment for all the wrong reasons.

Favorite scene - Gingerbread Man manages to switch a cars ignition on and drive manically it to a helpless victim death. And yes, Gingerbread men do have legs that are only a couple of inches long. Hmm....

A watchable film and a good looking cast. No nudity, which was a shame considering, as I'm sure it could have livened up the film a bit (call me perverse, whatever). This film is more like a 12, than an 18, so feel free to buy it for your 11 year old kid's upcoming birthday. Trust me, once you've seen Child's Play, you've seen this film, so no it's not really worth buying for yourself.

i am a big fan of Gary Busey and enjoyed watching him in such roles as buck matthews in the classic action movie eye of the tiger however he just wasn;t the same in this film true Busey fans will know what i mean.i must say though this film was a laugh to watch and the silly cheesy effects made it even more fun and there are some good moments like when an old lady gets her finger sliced off.The ending could have been better.Not bad for a B movie.
