I had previously been sceptical of McKeith's methods. She doesn't look that healthy herself but feels hectoring us fatties about how disgusting we are is the best way to get results - a sort of 'Scared Straight' for those who like chocolate and pizza. Having read this book, I'm now a fan! McKeith uses a simple 'level' approach to health and slimming. In broad terms, level 1 is to stop eating pizza and chips; level 2 is to drink plenty of water; level 3 is to start eating birdseed and bran flakes; and level 4 is to continue saying no to anything tasty - as McKeith puts it herself, 'consolidate, consolidate, consolidate'. Some find Gillian McKeith's aggressive and offensive manner too much, but this book shows that it can work. If fat people are too weak-willed to do something for themselves, who is going to do it for them? Answer: Gillian McKeith!
