Gillian Hovell is an award-winning writer and author, public speaker and lover of Latin and a muddy archaeologist.
Born and bred in Surrey, and graduated in Latin and Ancient History, she moved to the Yorkshire Dales in 2003 and has been knee-deep in archaeology ever since. 'Roman Britain' is a glossy pocket guide to the history, sites, personalities and legacy of Rome's occupation of Britain.
Her first book, 'Visiting the Past' unearthed the archaeology that is hiding all around us and demand soon prompted a second edition.
Gillian's next books will demystify the Latin that enriches every aspect of our lives and explore A Mediterranean Tour of the ancient sites and civilisations around the Med.
As a professional public speaker, Gillian is delighted to give lively, entertaining and professional richly-illustrated talks on archaeology, Latin and the Romans. She lectures on cruises and tours too, so why not enjoy a holiday full of discovery, history and archaeology. Find out more on her website, www.muddyarchaeologist.co.uk.
