Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
This more expensive version of the basic Venus razor claims to remove the need for shower gel by moisturizing your skin with inbuilt gel bars as you shave, while also releasing a 'spa breeze' scent of 'white tea'. I use Venus and Venus Divine razors regularly but have never wanted to splash out on a more expensive version before, so I was interested to see if this razor could live up to its claims. Unfortunately, as an all-round razor, it doesn't.

The pros of this razor are:

- Attractive design; the pale pink handle is genuinely nicer than the usual blue.
- Comes with a shower holder which you can attach to your shower tiles. I found that, once attached, this holder was secure and did not fall off. Interestingly, mine also came with a fridge magnet, which I didn't expect but which was a nice bonus!
- Effectively shaves legs smooth and makes shaving legs a nicer experience than using a normal Venus razor. There is no need to use shower gel.
- The scent of white tea is mild and barely noticeable, but pleasant.

Unfortunately, for regular use, these were outweighed by the cons:

- I found that this razor was not effective on armpits or bikini line. On those areas, the gel bars seem to release too much moisturizer, and this prevents the razor from shaving cleanly. I had to use my normal Venus razor to finish my armpits off, and the gel is too irritating for use on bikini line.
- Expensive, as you have to buy the spa heads as replacements as well, and the gel bars wear down quickly.

I can see myself using this razor for 'special occasions' or if I only want to shave my legs, but it isn't practical for day-to-day use for the reasons given above.

I must confess to being a tad sceptical that you can shave without the lubricating effects if shaving foam. No foam..nicks and pain.

But with this rather natty razor you can do just that. The razor has a special lubricating strip that helps the razor glide over your legs. I tried it...it works.

As I have uber sensitive skin I was concerned that I would have an allergic reaction to the razor. Not so. Plus it smells lovely.

Gillette even included a suction cup attachment to hang your razor up in the bathroom. No more scrabbling around looking for it. The handle is chunky and feels good in the hand.

Any quibbles,? Well...as is usual for the higher end of the razor family the replacement blades can get pricey. That may put potential users off.

All in all a quality razor that feels good and does the trick.

I cannot imagine what life was like before Gillette. I use their products every day, without fail. And whilst I was excited to try the Breeze innovation, I was left disappointed. The blades are quite pricey and, in my personal experience, do not last that long and are damaged well before the gel runs out and/or the blades become blunt.

Okay, the built-in shave gel bars seem like an amazing idea (and they smell good!) - just wet, glide and shave. And it all worked well for the first week. Then I left my razor on the somewhat wet bathroom shelf and the gel bars swelled and the razor was unusable from that moment on (i.e. because of the swelled gel bars, the actual razors could not reach the skin). From that point on I was careful to not leave the razor wet, but it seems just the dump environment of my bathroom damages the gel bars. If they don't swell, they just fall off.

I still think that this could be wonderful to take on a short holiday, and not bother about gels etc. Therefore three stars.

Not the most exciting product - but Gillette got it right. The design is good - easy to grip and the little suction holder is a good idea if you use in the shower. I like the smell of this one and the shave is smooth. Recommended.

Shaving your legs is an almighty chore, especially if you are used to lather. Perhaps that is overstating things a little, but at least with the `Gillette Venus Breeze Spa Manual Razor' you can save yourselves a few precious seconds with its inbuilt lather-up-erer (technical term). The `Venus Breeze' is part of a wider range, each having its own USP; some have more blades, others are imbued with anti-aging cream. The `Breeze' is all about the built in moisturising strip that means you no longer have to add shaving foam into the mix.

As a razor, the `Breeze' works well, three blades is easily enough. The issue is that the razor cannot always reach the skin as the moisture strip is so bulky. It takes a few strokes to get the lather going and the strip to reduce in size so that the blades actually bite. After this the process is a good one, but mind where you place the razor afterwards as resting it on the moisturiser strip can bend it into a funny shape once it goes hard, meaning that you have to soften and shape it all over again.

As a pack the `Breeze' razor is a good offer with the handle, a head and a pod that sticks to the wall. It is also nice that the moisturising strip smells. For the price you are getting a good deal and the blades last longer than more simple affairs.
