Gill Jepson was born and brought up in Barrow-in-Furness. She lived in London for 12 years but returned to Furness where she now lives with her husband. She has 2 grown up sons, a daughter and two grandsons. She is an experienced teacher, adult trainer and is a freelance writer. She is keen to engage children with both reading and creative writing and she frequently visits schools to provide author days and literacy sessions.
Gill was inspired to write her debut adventure story, Out of Time, by stories told to her about Furness Abbey by her father: "My Dad used to tell me about the time he encountered the Furness Abbey ghost as a child", says Gill. "Since then, Furness Abbey has always been one of my favourite places, peaceful but magical." She hopes that her books will inspire new generations to fall in love with Furness Abbey too. There are two more books in the Out of Time series, "Raven's Hoard" and "The Cistercian Conspiracy" again based around Furness Abbey. "Guy the Grumpy Gargoyle" about a little gargoyle who loses his brothers is aimed at the younger audience of 3-7years.
Gill regularly visits schools providing author events and workshops. She is available to speak at groups and societies and can be contacted through her web site at www.out-of-time.co.uk, facebook page Gill Jepson, Out of Time, or on twitter @gilljep.
