After ruining many a pan due to making popcorn i felt it was time to invest in a popcorn maker. I was also aware that using oil increases the calorie intake, i had heard about hot air popcorn and decided to hunt one down on amazon, Success! i found this stylish little retro number and thought i would take a chance. I love it, it not only looks good but makes light popcorn.

My only words of advice would be to take some time to read the instructions. When it explains that it is vital to measure the correct amount and wait 15 mins between making time it actually means it! My first attempt in the art of popcorn making resulted in slight disaster, burnig the kernals...opps!,as i went over the measuring line by complete mistake. The line is not that clear on the red lid.Oh and a little noise pollution is made when machine is on, but the kernals pop within mins so its not too bad. Personally i like to leave the popcorn plain, but the little book of wonders give some handy topping ideas.

Its great fun, has design appeal and makes cinema perfect popcorn. Say goodbye to oil stained pans!

I bought this item for my partner for christmas and it broke the first time he used it. However customer service was brilliant and they came and got the popcorn maker for free and had one sent over within a week. The new machine works brilliantly and the popcorn is delicious. Worth the money and the wait!

I almost didn't buy this product because some reviewers said you couldn't pop a small amount of corn without burning it. I'm dieting and wanted a good way to pop a small amount of oil-free corn for a low calorie snack.
Well I'm here to put the record straight. You can pop just a handful of corn no problem, it just requires some common sense.

I've had it a few months now and it's brilliant. The instructions tell you to fill the tray to a certain level which is 100g of corn. That's much too much for me so instead I just grab a handful of corn which is about 25g and plenty for a snack. What happens is at first there are few unpopped kernals which shoot out into the bowl then the rest of it pops normally. The crutial thing then is to listen for the popping to stop and as soon as that happens turn the machine off BEFORE IT BURNS. Then just tip out the contents remaining in the machine.
Yes a small amount of the kernals will be unpopped but who cares? I just transfer the popped kernals to a separate bowl, the unpopped ones having fallen to the bottom of the original bowl.

Here's my favourite flavouring:
Heat a teaspoon of honey in the microwave for 10 seconds and pour it over and mix in.
Then sprinkle over some cinnamon or nutmeg.
Do this and the snack is less than 100 calories.

Hope this helps someone else make their mind up.

This review is all hearsay as it was a gift. However, the recipient is absolutely delighted, not just being polite, and popcorn all over the kitchen (I had read the reviews and did warn her) seems to be all part of the fun!

I originally purchased this machine for film club at school and already it has earned it keep. The instructions are simple and the output is great. I couldn't believe how quickly and how much popcorn is produced! One for health-conscious film fans everywhere.

Looks just as it does in the pics (i.e. doesn't look substantially cheaper in the flesh like a lot of stuff seems to do).

Dead simple to use, just chuck some unpopped corn in the top (cheaply sourced from local supermarket), hit the switch, and within about a minute, lovely popcorn pops out the front.

Can't fault it really.

This popcorn maker has worked very well for me. The only problem is with the instructions. The instructions say to fill the lid with popcorn, to just cover the textured area of the lid. It is really difficult to see or feel 'the textured area'. Why not just say 75 grams of popcorn, or a third of a cup? I have also tried popping 45 grams, and 30 grams and both worked well. Tips and tricks: 1. For better popping results, heat the popcorn maker for a minute or two first. (Put it on for a minute to warm up, switch off, add popcorn, put lid etc back on, switch back on.) 2.As soon as the popcorn stops popping, switch the machine off and empty it, (so no kernels get burned.) 3.Because the popcorn is air-popped nothing will stick to it, so buy spray oil. (Never use oil in the machine.) Spray your finished popcorn with oil, stir it around a bit, then add salt or sugar and cinnamon etc. Enjoy!
