I always used to buy the Giles Annual as an Xmas present for my brother and end up reading it myself. This collection from across the years brings back some memories and there is still much within its pages to chuckle over.
The strips themselves are arranged into themed sections, with titles such as 'The Sex War' and then chronologically. Even though Giles first started cartooning in the first half of the Twentieth Century, a lot of the humour is bang up to date. I particularly liked the Marriage Guidance scene (with the government slogan, 'Don't Divorce! Go on a Corce!'). With his ability to showcase both the foibles of traditional families and trendies, Giles just doesn't seem to date.
