Gil Hogg was born in New Zealand and has worked internationally as a lawyer.He lives in London. In his latest novel Present Tense he draws on his knowledge of criminal law to tell the story of a woman who is confronted by a sexual predator who was aquitted of accosting her years before.Blue Lantern is a novel about police corruption in Hong Kong, the product of Gil's years as a Crown Counsel there.
Gil cared for his wife, terminally ill with Huntington's disease, and wrote the black comedy Caring for Cathy. He became interested in meditation to relieve the stress of work, and met gurus in India, Tibet and Japan. The notes he kept became Teaching Yourself Tranquillity, a non-mystical guide to meditation. He has also used his business experience to write two thrillers, The Predators, and A Smell of Fraud.
