Product Description

It's 1963 and Paris is sizzling with sex. The stylishly butch Gigola spends her days roaming chic cafés, taking on the criminal underclass, enticing pretty femmes away from their pimps, breaking hearts and making enemies along the way. Her evenings are spent in famous lesbian cabaret bar Chez Moune, picking up rich older women who keep her flush. Based on the long censored novel of the same name, Gigola captures a little known chapter in Parisian history in which eroticism defied conventional morals.

Starring a host of renowned faces of European cinema, including Rossy De Palma (Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown), Eduardo Noriega (Open Your Eyes, The Devil's Backbone), Marisa Paredes (All About My Mother, The Skin I Live In) Thierry Lhermitte (The Dinner Game), Marisa Berenson (I Am Love) and introducing Lou Doillon, daughter of Jane Birkin, as the eponymous Gigola.

Stylish and sexy! 29 Nov 2011
Format:DVD
As an avid French film fan, I try and keep up to date with the latest films from the ol' land of romance. I was glad to stumble across GIGOLA a few weeks ago after seeing an ad in Total Film magazine. I love this film! So wonderfully unique, stylish, sexy and, of course, silly. Impressive performances from a strong cast, including Lou Doillon (daughter of Jane Birkin!) and Marisa Paredes. If you're looking for something unique, this is one not to be missed. A highly recommended film.

A true story 1 Feb 2012
Format:DVD
I'm a big fan of Jane Birkin and when I heard that her daughter Lou Doillon was in GIGOLA I had to buy it - and I wasn't dissapointed.

After a bit of searching I found that the film is actually based on the life of the director Laure Charpentier, she was the GIGOLA charecter during the 60's and lead quite an amazing life. This is her story.

cardboard and silly 25 Jan 2012
By cartoon
Format:DVD
i just could not appreciate this wooden little film , Lou Doillon seemed to think that pulling a face means that she is acting and the seduction scenes were too cartoony to enjoy . A wasted opportunity , I didnt bother watching until the end.
