Book Description

11 Mar 2011
Since 2001, Gigposters.com has been the Internet's first and best resource for rock-show poster art; their massive online database showcases more than 90,000 posters from 7,000 different designers, including all of today's top poster studios. "Gig Posters Volume I" highlights the best 700+ examples in their collection, including 101 perforated and ready-to-hang posters for bands like Radiohead, Wilco, Vampire Weekend, the Decemberists, the Shins, Arcade Fire, Sleater-Kinney, and more. On the reverse of each poster are short bios of the artists, plus images of his or her other notable works. Among the many designers contributing to this collection are Rob Jones (of White Stripes fame), The Decoder Ring (house artists for Modest Mouse), Patent Pending, Tara McPherson, and more. Packaged in an oversized 11x14 paperback, "Gig Posters Volume I" is a spectacular compilation of rock show art (and one hell of a cheap way to decorate a dorm room or apartment).

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful book AND beautiful artwork 26 April 2010
Format:Paperback
Having been a daily visitor to gigposters.com for over 3 years I was thrilled that they had the genius idea of creating a book. I was however dubious whether or not the artworks would live up to my high expectations after seeing some stunning work on their website through the years.

I can tell you, from the point of a graphic designer, you will not be disappointed. I bought the book with the view that even if there's only 5 posters I like it's worth the money. I'm now having to buy a second book as I will end up tearing almost every page out, framing the posters and having them on my wall.

The paper the artwork is printed on is a lovely uncoated stock, bringing out vibrant colours without any tacky shiny shiny feel to it. They have left enough of an edge for easy mounting and the actual size of the artworks is just nicely over A4.

I would warn anyone who buys this though, if you have the intentions of using the posters then buy 2 copies as all the information (which in itself is a fantastic read) is on the back of each poster, so effectively you won't have a book left if you start tearing the pages out and framing them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quite possibly the best book in the world?! 30 Dec 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
If you love rock and you love music posters then this is the book for you. I bought it as a present for a friend and now want my own copy. Everyone who looks at it also wants a copy. The posters are fascinating, and printed in really high quality. They are tear out so can be easily framed. You won't regret buying this.
