Oh and what a gift!!! This started as a gift to myself. I had "Gift" on cassette and was limited as to where I could play (which car ...? one has old cassette deck, other has CD receiver and no cassette). Loved the tape, wore it down and it was vulnerable to further play.
My intro to Jean-Luc through a jazz music buddy buff was 25 years ago? Had bought some LPs - some tapes and my selections grew. Past experience; I am going to have to go to umpteen music specialty stores to find, "the One" or any others.
NOT!!! Amazon had em all, so easy, too easy (love it)and I messed up. I bought the Best of Jean-Luc Ponty; it had more titles. It was great, but I got to missing some of the tunes on Gift of Time that I knew and came to love (like fine wine) from the cassette. I brought an old boombox into my office so I could play and play and replay without having to leave my chair and flip and flip; Side 1 to Side 2 (yanno). Yep, I did it ... back to the 'well of Amazon' ... 4 of my 5 JLPs are now in a CD tray on the BIG stacked to the hilt stereo and the 5th is on standby on the turntable ... thus, to rock the house ALL DAY .. through.out.the.weekend until I have had my JLP 'fix' !!! If someone held a lethal weapon to my head and forced me to choose a favorite it would be The Gift of Time hands down. Or, Open Mind, okay ... ummm, Fables, yeah, Fables ... no Gift ... jajaja.
Believe if I turned my rattle the walls speakers toward the street and Turned It Up !!! I could start a block party with just this incredible JLP music. No lyrics, no language barrier ... let the music do the talkin. Universal language baby!!
