...is that, to quote the back of the tin: "Neither Gift Republic Ltd or any other company supplying this gift is affiliated with any approved horticultural society and no guarantees are given that the rose/and or its name will be recognised by such a society... This is a novelty gift and must be regarded as such."Shame the website didn't mention that or I might've thought twice about paying that amount of money for what amounts to a packet of seeds in some nice packaging.

I bought this last year in 2009 as a christmas present for my parents as I thought it was a nice idea and they are both keen, experienced gardeners. As mentioned in a previous review the naming of the rose is not recognised by any horticultural society which kind of defies the point. The second major issue with this is that 11 months after the seeds were planted in seed trays it wasn't roses that appeared! It was actually 20 weeds with purple flowers. If your looking to buy a rose plant for someone as a gift then use a garden centre where they come ready to plant directly as growing a rose from seed takes years and it is unlikely to happen in a garden in the UK.

On the death of my mum my daughter bought a gift rose as a constant reminder of how happy her nan was in the garden. It has flowered constantly since 2007 with a beautiful soft pink hue. It sits in a huge pot with a fairy beside it and has a happy memory to what was a lovely lady.
