This is a fabulous book that my daughter adores, its the next book stage after the Winnie the Witch picture books. There are still plenty of illustrations but longer stories and as she knows the character well she is more encoraged to read them.

My children and I adore the Winnie the witch series books. We purchased a box set from a book seller for £10 and have never looked back.
These smaller paperback books contain 4 short stories each, ever such good value at £3.99. Although my LO loves to look at the artwork in the bigger books. There is such detail in the illustrations and you notice new stuff all the time. We love Winnie and her long suffering sidekick cat Wilbur. In our house Winnie talks in a northern accent and my LO doesn't like it when CBeebies bedtime story is done in a completely different voice. "That's not Winnie" my LO says. Some of Winnie's phrases are classic, like "Oh, toads' bottom warts" or "Oh, blithering bats bottoms" or "oh, dimpled slugs bottoms". You can see a theme emerging, can't you.
In a nutshell, Winnie gets into terrible scrapes, goes on marvellous adventures and everything is a hilarious drama. She has a good heart but is a rubbish witch. Her cat Wilbur is the intelligent one of the duo. We buy each new book as soon as it comes out. They are witty and appeal to young and old unless you are devoid of humour.

I have bought these Winnie books for my granddaughter who is 4 years old and she absolutely loves them. In fact I'm not sure who enjoys them more me or her. The writer is very amusing and the stories keep the kid's entertained right through. These books are an absolute must for all children
