This is quintessential Childrens entertainment. It may lack the complexity of Lauren Child or 'the Gruffalo' but it more than compensates by having a simple, pleasing narrative that teaches understanding and compassion but eschews the usual heavy handed, overly saccahrine approach that childrens stories often take.
The child I read this story to delighted in Giddy's gentle but rewarding adventure and i found much for the parental reader to enjoy and bring to life for the young eared reader.
So, though not a masterpiece, it remains a wonderful piece of entertaiment, lavishly illustrated that teaches not preaches and rewards the child and the adult.
Warmly reccomended.
