I absolutely love this album, if you just let it play it's nice and relaxing listen but the lyrics have a lovely black humour to them. I find it hard to listen to this album without smiling, can be embarassing if you walk down the street with an mp3 player though, I'm sure some people must think I'm a care in the community case now. If you like quirky intelligent song writing such as Belle & Sebastian (more their early stuff though) you'll like this.

Most albums seem to be produced to play loud at the expense of sound quality but this is one of the most well produced albums I've heard from the last few years and it shows off the quality of the musicianship beautifully.

This is the first of his albums I've bought but I'll definitely be buying his back catalogue. Can't recommend this highly enough.

This 2006 release is the eighth album from musical duo Herman Dune.

The tone throughout is light and breezy, with a set of jaunty gentle guitar led folksy/poppy tunes laden with catchy hooks. The songwriting is very good, with some great lyrics that get stuck in the mind. The deal with themes of love and life, all with a wonderfully wry sense of humour that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. As another reviewer has said, it is a perfect summer's day album.

The vocalist has a very easygoing style, but manages to combine clarity with quite a lot of colour and feeling. The musicianship is deceptive in that it sounds simple, but there is some genuinely interesting and complex stuff going on. In all an excellent album of gorgeous, mellow singing and catchy melodies that will find itself quite often in my CD player.

Maybe it's the happy-go-lucky lyrics, or the superb arrangements, the inventive percussion, the lovely tight brass, the under-played vocals, who knows.. What is certain however is that this is the sound of an easy stepping summer day, wind your car window down or put on your headphones and wander through the streets, this is the soundtrack for blue skies in the city.
And well recorded too!

Herman's songwriting is distinctive. They are clear uncluttered recordings that rely on the quality of the songs rather than studio wizardry.
