Bought this mold weeks ago online! Paid £12 for it, little gutted after i then saw it for sale for £6 in a shop in my local shopping centre, but nevermind.
Downside is that it doesnt come with recipes and i spent a while trawling the internet for recipes for giant cupcakes! I finally managed to find one but even then i added to it from previous smaller cupcakes that i have made. The recipe i used incase anybody is interested is:
170g butter
170g caster sugar
170g self raising flour
3 eggs
1tsp baking powder or 1/4tsp baking soda
3 tbsp milk
1 1/2 tsp vanilla flavouring!
I personally do not think this is enough mix as my cake was half the size it should have been! I have only made one cake with this mould and that was today, so next time i am going to double up the recipe so my moulds are full.
The intructions said greasing the moulds isnt necessary but i think i will do next time as a little of the cake was stuck after turned out.
I baked the cake on gas 3, the top part was cooked in around 45/50 minutes and i left the bottom part in for an extra 10! BUT if i double up the mix obviously i think it's going to need longer than this!
Well, my final cake, is delicious! It's light and it's fluffy and i'm completely sold on this item. The only bad thing about the finished cake is that my icing technique isn't great haha!
Like my title says, trial and error! But you'll have fun trying and then eating the not so greatly turned out cakes in the process, YUM! =]
