Product Description

It has been just six months since David Herrick lost his beloved wife, Jessica. The grief is still an open wound. So when he receives an invitation to a reunion of long-lost friends, David's first impulse is to refuse. After all, two decades have passed since he was in the same youth group with these people. But the invitation comes from Angela, one of his wife's oldest friends, and mysteriously, she claims she has something for him from his late wife.

Reluctant but curious, David arrives at Headly Manor, an ancient house with an unsettling reputation. But life's most haunting specters are not a matter of location. In this honest, deeply moving novel of the heart, David and his friends search their souls for the courage to exorcise the ghosts of their own pasts.

Ghosts, we all have them, they can be so hard to deal with, the way Plass again approched a difficult subject and involves the reader is incredable. Dealing with thoughts and emotions we have all had but do not want to mention. He is able to grasp the truth of the matter and gently work through issues in a sensitive and caring way. He writes about grappling with death of a loved one, fear, insecurites, lust and life in general.
Well written, Thankyou Plass

Adrian Plass has once again set in words the emotions and feeling of love, fear, and at times dispair that we all have in our lives. He has put it in the context of a young man who is coming to terms with becoming a widower, and the last chapter had me sobbing. It is a wonderful piece of literature and a must read for all those Adrian Plass fans out there.

A loss, a reunion, an old house, noises. Members of a church youth group get together for a weekend, twenty years on. One is bereaved, one has an untold secret, one left the way, one holds on. And a silver birch tree springs a surprise.

You may be expecting comic cuts from an Adrian Plass book. Well, there is a vein of humour here, but much more than that. This is a well-written and shapely book, full of depth, feeling and faith.

Ghosts, skeletons, things around corners, a sensitive psychological novel and a wonderful piece of adult Christian fiction.
