Creepy 26 Mar 2008
Format:Audio CD
Read a good ghost book then turn off the lights and listen. This is
genuinely creepy music. It's not the usual new age relax, but is pretty
much what is says on the tin. I love the album for the way it musically depicts lonely places and sad stories. The music is sad, melancholic and
atmospheric. You don't have to believe in spooks, but the way Llewellyn lets the music visually describe a haunting and the sad tale behind it leaves me as a listener very moved. Be great for a haunted house vigil!

Not exactly haunting. 29 Jun 2002
Format:Audio CD
As concept albums go,this had plenty of potential;a selection of 'true' British Ghost Stories, each given a musical interpretation.I was expecting something along the lines of Rick Wakeman's "6 Wives of Henry VIII",with each piece having an individual character, expressing the different moods of the stories on offer(a touch of pathos here,a sinister ambience there, maybe a sorrowful interpretation),but all you get is a collection of nine reasonably melodic compositions all sounding much the same. 'The Piper'(the opening track) is the best, and provides a strong melody coupled with a reasonably effective ambience(together with synthetic bagpipes and side-drum rhythm as a finale);Lady Hoby(track 2)sounds pretty much the same as track 1,but without the strong melody, and so on. Borley Rectory seemed to have no connection to the actual place, but Babes in the Wood caught the flavour of the subject matter quite successfuly. It all comes to a head in a short, fairly chilling finale. The album is well produced, but the music needed a stronger compositional talent to do it justice.

"Ghosts" a Haunting album of such great beauty. 18 July 2001
By stephen sheppard - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I have to say i first stumbled on this album by accident, i don't know what it was but i suppose it was my fascination with the subject that pursuaded me to buy it.

Looking back now i can say buying this album was a major turning point in my life, this was my first New World Records cd, a step into unknown territory and i have not looked back since.

The Album depicts Ghosts throughout the British Isles, i found myself playing it almost non stop at times whilst writing, the mood of the music aiding my mental flow perfectly(Try it if you don't belive me)!

Llewellyn describes so accruately Ghosts from places that i have visited myself, Hinxworth Place(track 8)Knebworth featured in track 6 Jenny Spinner, quite and almost hauntingly capturing the very essence of those places, to the point i actually felt i was there whilst listening. But then again thats the aim of any great composer surely?

The opening track The Piper, enters with wind howling as if being carried by the notes themselves across a barren scottish moor and from then on your lost in the power and enchantment of this amazing album.

I have played this cd many times on my radio programme and i was asked once which track was my favourite, my answer was quite simple"There isn't one, i like them all equally all 51 minutes.and 47 seconds of it"

If you have an interest in Ghosts buy the album. If you love beautiful descriptive music buy this album.

This i feel will one day be regarded as a true masterpiece, Llewellyn has a perfect feel for the subject and indeed has never let me down since.

But one word of warning!

DON'T listen to it in the DARK!!

By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
I first learned about this unique album while shopping at my local New Age shop & it came highly recommened. When I first heard the album I was amazed at how both the album is Haunting & Relaxing. Llewellyn has always been one of my favourite New Age Artists and this album (Ghosts) is at the top of my list. If you have interests in the Paranormal or the unknown in general I highly suggest getting a copy of this album. It is a true masterpiece. P.S. Turn off the lights & Light a few Candles !!!

Ghosts - A Mystical Journey to the Spirit Realm 2 Jan 2007
By Catherine Wallace - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
The music found in this CD has a mesmerizing ability to transform the listener through the senses...taking them to a place where the spirits haunt, and frail curtains wave in the windless breeze of a cloudy window.

There is the faint outline of a ghostly figure peering out into the distance. What is it they see? A lighthouse standing forgotten...and yet, in the depths of night before the dawn, any onlooker may catch a glimpse of a light passing through the stairwell.....but look again....and it has disappeared.

"Ghosts" is a passage to a forgotten realm...certain to make you wonder what it was you felt touch your arm...reach for your hand....breathe ever-so-lightly on the nape of your neck...and call to you on the whisp of wind in the haunting distance of the imagined...or was it real? That is the secret that each listener must decide, for nothing convinces the mind more than a brief encounter with the spirit realm.
