Format: Paperback
TTA Press have cornered the market in weird, dark and disturbing short fiction with their Crimewave anthologies. Ghosts brings together thirteen stories from authors on both sides of the Atlantic. The quality of the writing is excellent and the collection has plenty to unsettle, surprise and frighten the reader. Contributions include Nina Allan's unnerving tale of a young photographer stalking a suspected child killer; Living Arrangements, a sly story by Steve Rasnic Tem, where a failed father is unexpectedly invited to move in with his estranged daughter; Christopher Fowler's exploration of ruthless deals and poetic justice in The Conspirators; and We Are Two Lions, by Luke Sholer, a powerful love story warped by crime. There are memorable characters too like Mikal Trimm's damaged trailer trash anti-hero Desmond in Who's Gonna Miss You When You're Gone? and Cody Goodfellow's creepy vigilante in Neighbourhood Watch. Ghosts come in all shapes and sizes and this anthology is fresh, unpredictable and meaty reading.
