Format:Audio CD
If like me you enjoy ghost stories then this collection is probably a good purchase for you , i have recently started to collect them on audio/audiobook format and this is one of the better ones i have bought , the readers are all great readers and clear and crisp with good enterpretations of accents etc and i thoroughly enjoyed all the stories even though i had read them myself before , i enjoy listening to them whilst at work on my ipod , the running time is just over 2hrs and 20 minutes and my favourite story of the four is THE PHANTOM COACH but as i said before i enjoyed them all , the cd was recognized on itunes { which if like me you have purchased other audiobooks is a pain when they are not recognized as they have to be entered manually ??? } and listed all tracks in order with no problems , all in all a great cd and i would hope there will be a second volume with hopefully some of LE FANU,s ghostly gems , that would be great .....

Along with Ghostly Terror! (BBC Audiobooks) and Vampire Horror!, Ghostly Tales completes a trilogy (so far) of ghost, vampire and horror stories on the AudioGO label from master storytellers of the past, read by talented narrators from the present. This 2CD set comprises of four stories:
"The Phantom Coach" by Amelia B. Edwards;
"The Tapestried Chamber" by Sir Walter Scott;
"The Judge's House" by Bram Stoker; and
"The Man of Science" by Jerome K. Jerome.
And a good selection of stories they are too. They all evoke a clear sense of the period they are set in and are suitable creepy for listening to in the dark late at night. My favourite story from the four is "The Judge's House" which sets the scene perfectly and builds up a slow sense of tension and lurking horror right up until its terrifying conclusion. The incidental music at the beginning and end of each story is also quite unsettling.

Delivery was very quick and packaged excellently. This was a present for a friend so not quite my thing but he was absolutley delighted!
