Ghost Whisperer - Season 4 [DVD]

Season four of Ghost Whisperer, which runs to 23 episodes, finds Melinda facing many tumultuous problems of her own, as she finds her own life turned upside down. While she addresses that, she also has to help out a ghost who’s struggling to cross over, a teenager with vampire desires and a ghost causing havoc at a nursery.

The episodes stand alone here well, and even at its weakest, Ghost Whisperer does offer a solid episode of entertainment. But it’s regularly more than that, and even though this isn’t the strongest season of the show, there’s little doubt that you get your money’s worth here. Furthermore, Love Hewitt is excellent in the title role, and she helps paper over some of the narrative cracks. It’s still a fun show, and a warmly recommended thriller. --Jon Foster

Jim and Melinda's participation in a friend's wedding brings a change to their own relationship.

Jim struggles against the what he's supposed to do, and Melinda tries to help a teenage ghost while dealing with her grief.

Melinda tries to reach Jim while dealing with Sam's family and a ghost determined to punish her.

Melinda struggles to help a spirit who can't remember, and endangers her life trying to prevent another tragedy. Meanwhile, Sam puts off searching for the person for whom his ring was meant.

Delia's newest house listing turns out to be haunted, and Melinda must figure out a lie before a second family tragedy occurs. Meanwhile, Sam's memory flashes begin to seem like Jim's, but that may not be enough to keep him with Melinda.

Sam gets a little more than he bargained for when he spends time with Melinda so he can get used to her world, and they run into a ghost who is influencing the children of a nursery school.

Jim's memory returns and he's reunited with Melinda.

A teenager is enthralled by a ghost who's tapped into her vampire fantasies, and Melinda must act before the girl becomes a ghost herself.

Episode 23: The Book of Changes
Jim and Melinda's wedding is overtaken by an ambitious wedding planner while Melinda deals with dreams that seem to threaten her child. Elsewhere, Eli's ex, Zoe, is caught up in a book sale with tragic consequences.
