Book Description

A short ghost story

Sam Freeman, owner of Phoenix Demolition and Renovation Services, wins a contract to demolish the run down stately home of Berkley Hall. He and his team arrive on Monday morning to start removing anything that could be sold or used in other renovations before the wrecking ball arrives. As work gets underway things start to go wrong and they become aware that demolishing this building is not going to be as straight forward as they first thought.

More About the Author

Andy was born and grew up in Bedfordshire in the UK. He was a dreamy child who had as many imaginary adventures as he did real ones in the river and fields near his family home. Many summer days were spent building rafts (that usually sunk) and floating down the river with his friends. When it rained, he would spend hours daydreaming about hidden doorways to underground worlds where strange creatures lived.

After twenty years as an engineer, he wanted to spend more time on enjoyable and creative pursuits, and now writes horror stories, teaches classical guitar, is a keen amateur ornithologist and enjoys woodwork.

A note from the author.
Like most authors, I like to hear what readers think of my books. I don't write to earn a living, it's purely the enjoyment of writing and hearing that you have enjoyed reading them. So if you have an opinion and the time, I would appreciate your comments. You can leave them on Goodreads, Facebook, Google+ or email me directly through my website.

I'd love to hear from you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyable 12 Sept. 2011

Personally I really enjoyed this read. It seems a bit marmite going on previous reviews, but I do feel that the 1 star reviews seem to be based on the fact that the readers seem to have issues about its length - it is a short story, which was what I was expecting, and as such was very enjoyable. If you like ghost stories - give it a go.

a very good easy to read ghost story. Some people have commented on it being too short, but i found it just about right, and leaving it open ended for a follow up story.
If you are a ghost story for Christmas fan, then this should fill that role, not quite the type to keep you awake at night but still very good.

4.0 out of 5 stars HEY! GET OUT OF THERE ! 11 Nov. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A spine tingling tale of a demolition crew sent to the mysterious Berkley Hall. Although the place could be restored the owner insists on it being demolished and here is the first clue that something is wrong. Actually, from the moment of their arrival the crew are subjected to a whole string of happenings. This is the kind of story that has you shouting at your book/screen, DROP EVERYTHING! GET OUT OF THERE! (Especially when broken fingernails are found gouged into the back of the door) But of course they never do.
Inevitably things get worse, much worse. People who get snarled up in haunted houses never learn, do they?

Enjoyable short story that would improve greatly with more detail and a more drawn out ending it stopped just as you wanted to know what happened.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read 28 April 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I thoroughly enjoyed this read. Good traditional style ghost story with nice atmospheric suspence without graphic blood, guts and violence, its the sort of story that gets the imagination going to great effect. Nicely drawn characters, highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Unusual twist 5 May 2013
By Wendy
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I thought this book was a great read but then I like anything spooky. It didn't take me long to read it, would be ok for holidays or if you have a little spare time, nothing in the book to stop you picking it up and putting it down, you won't lose the thread as its a straight forward story,no twists and turns. Recommended. I soulless this author again.
