In Columbia Pictures' action adventure GHOST RIDER, superstar motorcycle stunt rider Johnny Blaze (Nicolas Cage) strikes a deal with the vile Mephistopheles for the most precious of commodities, his immortal soul. Now Johnny Blaze is forever destined to ride night after night as the host to the powerful supernatural entity known as the Ghost Rider.
The apocalyptic score was composed by Christopher Young (Spider-Man 3, Urban Legend, The Exorcism of Emily Rose). His soundtrack is an unrelenting thrill ride that excites and terrifies!
Currently one of the hardest working and most interesting film composers in Hollywood, Christopher Young cut his teeth on low-budget sci-fi and horror films in the 1980s before breaking out with four career-making scores (Hellraiser, The Dark Half, Jennifer 8 and Murder in the First), which displayed a sophisticated musical palette and an unerring instinct for drama and mood. A return to roots, the superb Ghost Rider is signature Young with its deft combination of large themes, pounding rhythms and bold instrumental colours (snarling guitars, harsh brass and shrieking strings with delicate Spanish guitar and surging chorales). Humdingers include the driving Ghost Rider, the elegiac San Venganza and the menacing Nebuchadnezzar Phase. -- The Irish Times (Jocelyn Clarke), March 8, 2007
