Review
Currently one of the hardest working and most interesting film composers in Hollywood, Christopher Young cut his teeth on low-budget sci-fi and horror films in the 1980s before breaking out with four career-making scores (Hellraiser, The Dark Half, Jennifer 8 and Murder in the First), which displayed a sophisticated musical palette and an unerring instinct for drama and mood. A return to roots, the superb Ghost Rider is signature Young with its deft combination of large themes, pounding rhythms and bold instrumental colours (snarling guitars, harsh brass and shrieking strings with delicate Spanish guitar and surging chorales). Humdingers include the driving Ghost Rider, the elegiac San Venganza and the menacing Nebuchadnezzar Phase. --
