I like my Asian horrors, but this one was rather disappointing. The image quality was just fine on my copy, and the sound good (I enjoyed some of the music, too); the acting was excellent, and there are some good moments which stick with you, but on the whole the story is simply way too derivative. I'm fine with a tip of the hat and a wink at other films, but they have just shovelled in anything and everything - Final Destination, Ju-On, The Exorcist, and even the Matrix. It's a shame because the ghost story at the root of it, referred to in a brief prologue by the old granny of the heroine, is a touching and interesting one, which warranted better treatment. The effects are well done, and the film is well made, but it is let down by poor scripting. Possibly this version has been cut, since one major character seems to suddenly disappear without explanation or the kind of dramatic departure given to others; I certainly expected him to get his own Final Destination. But I would not recommend this one too much. Okay for a couple of hours if you get it reasonably cheap or rent it.
