Book Description

Caina Amalas is a nightfighter of the Ghosts, the spies and assassins of the Emperor of Nighmar, and through cunning and valor she has cast down both proud lords and mighty sorcerers.

But a power darker than any she has ever faced is awakening.

When a mad assassin armed with a sorcerous blade rampages through the Emperor's capital, Caina must track the weapon to its origin, a ruined city blighted by the folly of sorcerers, a city that holds weapons far more potent than mere blades.

Weapons that can resurrect an ancient empire of dark sorcery to enslave the world anew...

Standing over six feet tall, Jonathan Moeller has the piercing blue eyes of a Conan of Cimmeria, the bronze-colored hair a Visigothic warrior-king, and the stern visage of a captain of men, none of which are useful in his career as a computer repairman, alas.

He has written the DEMONSOULED series of sword-and-sorcery novels, and continues to write THE GHOSTS sequence about assassin and spy Caina Amalas, the COMPUTER BEGINNER'S GUIDE series of computer books, and numerous other works.

Having purchased demonsouled on a whim I had little hopes for this being anything more than average. I don't think I have ever been so wrong.
A definite must for fantasy lovers out there (think Eddings, Feist etc) based in a land where magic truelly exists, Knights are still valiant (mostly) this has been a wonderful journey for me.
I've literally just read the last of the 7 books and was kept interested all the way through. Plenty of plot twists, new and old characters along the way. A bit of magic, a little romance and a whole heap of excitement!

There are a few minor typos but nothing too bad and was little more than a minor irritation.

And all of this (7 books) for little more than the cost of one hardback.

I'm just about to start on the ghost stories and if it's half as good as this I'll be happy.

Shortened version - LOVE FANTASY? BUY THIS!

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent epic fantasy 4 Nov. 2013

I thought this series would either fizzle out or go the way many of its ilk do - with the main character becoming so overpowered its no fun to read any more.

Thats been avoided - without giving up on character development. If anything the books have gotten much beter over the last 3 - with the start of a multi book plot arc.

The main charcter is very well done and the series is an excellent addition to anyones bookshelf.

I enjoyed all the books and I do enjoy the light read by Jonathan Moeller, but if you can't stand repeating stories in the books I would stay away from this line theme from him.
I do love the main lady but to me he made her, to friget, angry and lonely and I wish he made her something more than what she was set out to do.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good read 31 Oct. 2013

The story was good and gripping about an evil magic city which the inhabitants were trapped in as dust shadows. No one can enter as they would die in 77 heart beats! It is better if you read the previous books as this is a continuation which I did not realise till I started reading. RP
