This was a free book I got from KindleBookReview and I have to admit that I enjoyed it. It has a good plot and a number of interesting characters. Set in Edinburgh, in Scotland, it follows the story of Scott Cullen, a detective initially investigating the case of a missing woman but who finds himself slowing on the trail of a killer targeting young women through the use of social media sites.
For readers who like police based crime thrillers and don't mind a good pinch of high tech thrown in, this is the book for you.
The story is cleverly written, which was why I was a little surprised to find out that it is a debut novel. The plot has much to recommend it - the joy is more in the detail that the intricacy of the story. You find yourself convinced in knowing who the killer is, only to find you are wrong time and time again. As the story draws to it's conclusion, the pace really picks up, and leaves you unable to stop reading until you get to the very end.
For me personally, I also enjoyed the Edinburgh setting, having visited the city once in my past. An impressive debut novel - I look forward to reading more from this new author.
