The animation is top notch as usual, but the second season is different to the first in that more of the epsiodes (so far) are connected to one another. This second volume of 2nd Gig continues where the first left off, investigating a series of seemingly unrelated events connected to a mysertious group calling themselves The Individual Eleven, which made their appearance in episode one. The political intrigue is heavily involved with the mysterious Goda raising the suspicions (and anger) of Section 9 repeatedly. I've only watched it once and know I'll have to watch it again to link everything together.
Fortunately for us, concentration on the plot has not been at the expense of substance. The attention to detail is absolutely wonderful, with a level of consistancy that helps create a living, breathing world. Throw in are some rather interesting discussions, theories and insights on philosophy, politics and sociology and you've got another winner on your hands.
