When the clock strikes twelve... An early film from Roland Emmerich (director of 'Stargate', 'Independence Day' and 'Godzilla') following the spooky tale of an old clock that holds a mysterious secret. Would-be movie maker Warren discovers that he is the sole heir to his grandfather's estate - but it turns out only to be an old clock. However, when the clock strikes twelve it releases the spirit of the old man's butler who possesses the body of a movie dummy. The dummy, now known as Fred, tells Warren of a hidden treasure, but they have to get their hands on it before the vengeful ghost of grandad or a ruthless, money-grabbing movie-mogul.

"Ghost Chase" is a silly but enjoyable 1980's supernatural comedy. Suitable for all the family. But it is more likely to appeal to those of us that grew up in the eighties.
The story centres around two bungling amateur film makers called Warren and Fred who are in financial trouble. That is until Warren inherits a suitcase from his late grandfather with a haunted clock. The clock contains the ghost of his grandfather's butler Lewis who informs Fred and Warren that there is a hidden fortune in his grandfather's old house.
From there on in its a race against time to retrieve the fortune before a crooked studio owner (brilliantly played by Paul Gleason) can get to it first.
This film may not have a big budget, great special affects or an Oscar winning cast but it is still great fun to watch. Especially for those of us that grew up in the 1980's. Paul Gleason is brilliant as the crooked studio owner but it is the ghostly butler Lewis who really steals the show. He looks like a cross between Albert Einstein and E.T with a British accent!
The film isn't frightening in the least and is more than suitable for young viewers. However they may not appreciate the 80's clothes and sound track as much as grown ups. Belouis Some's "Imagination" is the main song of the film.
