2.0 out of 5 stars Good books, just not to my taste 21 Feb 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have read several of Scott's stories now and am still not quite sure whether I like him or not. I like his style of writing certainly, he writes with humor and provides a well crafted plot. However, I struggle to empathize with any of his characters as I don't find them relatable, or sympathetic and can't say I really care about what happens to any of them.

I started with the Red Church (handily so as it's the first story) and although I did finish reading it, I can't say that it drove me to continue reading - I paused several times to read other books.

Overall, I would say that his books have interesting plots, good pacing and good description, but they just aren't for me. Since they are so well priced, and often free, it is worth reading to see what you think.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hooked! 13 April 2012

This is a new author to me but I do like a good ghost story so thought I'd give it a try.

I wasn't disappointed. I'm about half way through the set and have enjoyed all the books so far immensely - more horror than ghostly though. Perhaps a touch too much gore in places for me but then I am a bit squeamish!

A good little compilation of short stories. A little far fetched but if you are into it then its worth it.
