With this concise introduction, you’ll learn how CouchDB’s simple model for storing, processing, and accessing data makes it ideal for the type of data and rapid response users now demand from your applications—and how easy CouchDB is to set up, deploy, maintain, and scale.
The code-packed examples in this book will help you learn how to work with documents, populate a simple database, replicate data from one database to another, and a host of other tasks.
Install CouchDB on Linux, Mac OS X, Windows, or (if you must) from the source code
Interact with data through CouchDB’s RESTful API, and use standard HTTP operations, such as PUT, GET, POST, and DELETE
Use Futon—CouchDB’s web-based interface— to manage databases and documents, and to configure replications
Learn how to create, update, and delete documents in JSON format, and how to create and delete databases

1.0 out of 5 starsDid I Really Pay for This?!17 Feb 2012
By Chris G. Sebastian - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book is EXTREMELY short -- only 82 pages. I think it qualifies as the shortest technical book I own. It feels more like a "chapter or two", rather than a "book".
I wouldn't mind the fact that the book was short if it was packed with dense material, but it is not -- it is very high level, and does not go into detail of pretty much anything.
I recommend that you do not buy this book. Instead, just read the first 44 pages of this other (free) online book: The Definitive Guide to CouchDB. Those 44 pages cover the same topics that this book covers.

4.0 out of 5 starsA good guide to getting started with CouchDB10 April 2012
By Si Dunn - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Yes, the list prices for Brown's 69-page book can seem a bit high. But if you want to learn how to work with CouchDB, the information to get you started is conveniently at hand, in the book or e-book. It helps to have some experience with JavaScript, Python and HTTP before diving into this book and its code examples.
