5.0 out of 5 stars The best typography book I've read, 9 Feb 2009
I teach graphic design at HND level and so I read tons of typography books, but this is the only one I set as mandatory reading for the students. It's extremely thorough and wonderfully pedantic. Highly recommended if you care enough to do things properly (which, as a graphic designer, you should!).

5.0 out of 5 stars Good handbook for study, 3 Oct 2009

(REAL NAME)
A very thorough introduction to the mechanics of Typography - nicely designed and clearly laid out for both study and as an actual example of its own 'lessons in typography' !
Good useful book for those studying and for people who are fascinated by all things related to designing lettering and fonts.

This book is like an introduction to basic principles on how to use type in your design projects.

Very easy to read with strait forward content and examples.

If you're looking for a starting point to learn typographic design, this book is for you.

3.0 out of 5 stars I found the type hard to read!
A very interesting read. Academic in its approach. I found it majored more on the Don'ts than the Do's so I was aware of lots of mistakes but not yet sure how to fix them... Read more
