Product Description

Georgie and Flick are a girl's best friend - and secret weapon. Their agency, Domestic Angels, provides invaluable help to armies of harassed women. After years of hard work, Georgie and Flick have built a small but grateful clientele - doing everything from booking the plumber to replacing dead hamsters. Then one evening, they are visited by a pale, nervous-looking woman who makes the strangest request yet. Her husband has combined a take-over with a leg-over. Would Georgie and Flick help her get her own back? It isn't long before word gets out. Inundated with requests from angry wives, Georgie and Flick begin to wonder whether all these men are really as black as they are painted. Meanwhile, the disgruntled husband of a client has rumbled them. It may be that they aren't the only masters of revenge after all...

Georgie and Flick run an agency called 'Domestic Angels' where they cater to their clients' every whim - organising catering or household chores, picking up dry-cleaning, even dyeing customers' poodles if need be! Then comes a different kind of request - a woman arrives at the agency wanting to get revenge on her cheating husband. Will Georgie and Flick help her out? The lure of the fee is too much to resist and they duly agree to the request, assuming this will be a one-off unique kind of job. But when word gets around that the Domestic Angels can also be 'Avenging Angels', Georgie and Flick wonder what they've got themselves into...

I loved this book. I thought the premise was really great - very original and fun. What woman hasn't plotted revenge on a cheater, after all?! The characters are well drawn (and you really come to care about them), the plot rattles along at a fantastic pace, and the writing is excellent. Totally recommended!

I did not find the last Annie Sanders novel as good as previous books but this is brilliant. Flick and Georgie run Domestic Amgels. They will collect parcels, mastermind your house move or renovation or even shop for you. Out of the blue they are asked to help a wronged wife get her own back on her philandering husband. They're dubious but the rent on their office has just gone up and more cash would be useful. This first assignment is a success and they are soon being asked if they will do the same for other wives.

It's when things stop going to plan that the trouble starts and both Flick and Georgie have to face problems in their private lives as well before things sort theselves out and reach a resolution neither of them could possibly have envisaged in their wildest dreams.

The book addresses serious issues including whether revenge can ever be justified but it is also full of light hearted moments and laugh out loud scenes. The finale is absolutely brilliant - though to say more about it would give away too much of the plot. I found myself wanting to know what happened next and reading the book every spare moment I got. It is well written, the characters are believable and realistic and no one behaves like a plaster saint. This is one of the best examples of chick lit and an absolute pleasure to read.

As chick-lit this book delivers what it promises, The prose style is okay and its a nice fantasy story with likeable if shallow characters and a glossing over of reality - the plot covers some serious issues, but any unpleasant aspects are either ignored or passed over very quickly.

So far, so easy read, its undemanding, predictable and enjoyable enough. More could have been made of the ending.

However, it didn't surprise me that "Annie Sanders" is two writers, as almost all of the people in this book do things which contradict their characters. Does one writer get them established and then hand them to the other half way through? While you might argue that
people do do things that are out of character there is one alarming male who drastically changes his hair colour - on page 108 "His face, under a mop of fair hair", on page 153 "Thick dark hair was pushed off his face" - he's a major character - surely you visualise your characters when writing about them?

Overall I felt that this book was put together to a formula in order to extract money without even a cursory quality check. I'd rather have read something less accomplished by a writer who cares about writing.
