'Getting Any?' tells the tale of Asao, a harmless simpleton, as he attempts to achieve his ultimate goal: having car sex. First he must find the car to suit him, and one within his budget, but some just aren't comfortable enough, even after 'adjustments' (best seen for yourself).
I loved this film. The acting is hilarious (especially during the Zatoichi parody), some of the editing is daft as a brush and the plot, somehow managing to stay linear, is as demented as it gets. Who'd have thought this man, who dreamed a simple dream of car sex with beautiful girls, could end up being swatted to death on a giant pile of poo? Not me.
With plenty of references to other films, even Western ones, and even some Michael Jackson send ups, Beat Takeshi has created a silly but joyous film, one for the whole family... to lock away from their kids. The sad thing is, this was Takeshi's attempt at career suicide! This film shouldn't exist at all - it was a reaction to how Japan seemed to be ignoring the guy in his more serious roles. But knowing he's still going strong, we can look back and enjoy the madness.
Oh and, MAMBO!!
