This book is less about losing weight, and more about gaining health. If you are suffering from various non-specific symptoms which don't seem to make sense, or indeed if you are just looking to feel energetic and healthy again, this book may well be extremely helpful.
It's author, (a trained nurse), recovered from a 'mystery' illness using the Hay Diet. She went on to write the book to help others restore their own health and vitality through tackling diet, eating habits and environmental issues.
The book looks at some of the more common problems such as Candida, Allergies, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Low Blood Sugar problems and toxicity from mercury fillings, helpfully listing 'classic' symptoms (which can be as varied as anxiety, dizziness, muscle cramps, ringing in the ears) of each condition, and explaining how some may overlap with others. More importantly she looks at where to begin tackling these problems.
The information given on the Hay Diet itself is limited, but sufficient to get a grasp on the principles. Basic food items are listed in tables indicating how they should be combined together, but if you want very detailed listings and menu ideas you would need to buy a different book.
Overall a helpful book if you feel you have health issues you want to tackle, but perhaps less detailed than others if you want to concentrate primarily on weight loss.
