4.0 out of 5 stars User Friendly 28 Jun 2011
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I would highly recommend this book - however if you get it, get the book & CD set.

There are references in the book which relate to specific points on the CDs to help with pronounciation etc.

I love this little book - it really helps with understanding the language which, from a novice point of view, I think is important.

I'm still working my way through it & more importantly, enjoying it!

1.0 out of 5 stars The Audio files do NOT work on Kindle Fire HD 2 May 2013
By BWFC77
Format:Kindle Edition with Audio/Video|Verified Purchase
The book seems well written and informative, but I bought this for the embedded audio facility - after all, this is what makes the book different from other kindle language books, and I guess is why it costs so much (nearly £20.00). On the amazon site it says clearly that the audio content is available on the Kindle Fire HD (7). However, it isn't. When you tap the speaker icon to play dialogues, there is an error message. I've just spent 30 minutes with the extremely helpful Kindle technical staff, and they could not sort out the problem, so I'm now getting a refund. Beware!

4.0 out of 5 stars A very good book 30 Jan 2012
By M Lopes
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I have just started leraning Turkish and need a good starting point to learn this fasciating but difficult language to lear (in my openion at least. This book has been providing the help I need as an absolute beginer. However I expected it to have more in the way of help to build centences, because I find this to be one of the greater chanlenges with the Turkish language. Still the overal content of the book is very helpful and I have been enjoying studying it when I get the time to do so. I would recommend it, alond with a good grammar book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Difficult to get started 14 Mar 2012
Format:Paperback
A companion set in Italian had allowed us in no time at all to get started in Italian - sufficiently to practise on the natives without breaking out in a dead sweat. By comparison, the structure of this set is different (it starts with learning how to pronounce the alphabet) and, despite three attempts, I've been unable even to get properly started. I believe a foreign language set that starts directly with simple phrases would be both more helpful and motivating. In addition, for those of us eager to learn by listening and repeating on a long car journey, constant references to a companion book are less tha helpful.

2.0 out of 5 stars Excellent- BUT DISAPPOINTING audio is not availabe for Kindle version 9 Sep 2012
By Paula J Swenson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition with Audio/Video|Verified Purchase
Honestly what got me to click BUY was the rapturous prose about how easy it was to be able to listen and read all in one portable device. I'm very disappointed to find what promised to be the ideal product only to find I only get half of it . . .

I love the approach of this book! As a former teacher of languages it was exciting to see someone doing it right . . . HOWEVER, when shopping from the Kindle device it was not clear that the audio was only available for iPad/iPod editions and so I feel really cheated, like I paid full price and only got half a product . . . at least make the audio available as an mp3 download!!! Better still make it available as advertised ON MY KINDLE (I don't have either iPad or iPod) . . . I'm headed to Turkey in 3 weeks time and wanted a head start . . . FRUSTRATED!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Have i-pad... got the whole book! 24 Sep 2012
By Tekir Kedi - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition with Audio/Video|Verified Purchase
So far I have been studying Turkish on my own with a little recent help from a Turkish 'e-pal'. I like the way the audio is set up. (I have an İ-pad. I think using it on an i-pod would be difficult due to the i-pod size.) You can read the words and listen at the same time as you go through the chapters without having to go to another device. The other reviewer is/was definitely missing out on this part. I bought this product based on his review and am finding it very helpful and it is a nice augment to [[AS IN: 9789757981404 Elementary Turkish: A Complete Course for Beginners (Paperback)]]
The native English speakers are English! This might cause a bit of 'noise' for someone who may be bothered by the accent. I find it refreshing, but then I am an ex-pat.

1.0 out of 5 stars No Android; No Windows 16 Aug 2013
By Toni Wan Knobi - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition with Audio/Video|Verified Purchase
Don't get this if your want to use it on an Android or with Windows on a PC. The audio files are apparently only supported by Apple. It would have been nice to know this before I shed out the cash for it!!!!!!!!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars lack of audio files 21 July 2013
By Jagielski - Published on Amazon.com

lack of audio files or they do not work - why ? - no idea.

I bought this e-book thinking that it has audio options in my Kindle.

I would be very happy to learn how it could be changed.
5.0 out of 5 stars Love this innovative format! 22 May 2013
By Bama Bibliophile - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition with Audio/Video|Verified Purchase
I recently bought this Kindle Enhanced ebook to prepare myself for a recent trip to Turkey and used the book on my iPad both before and during the trip. I instantly fell in love with this enhanced format. Seeing the words while listening to the native speakers' pronunciation helped me grasp and remember the vocabulary more quickly. I strongly preferred this ebook to the audio-only Pimsleur course, because seeing the words helped me comprehend which consonants were being used in each word. For my learning style, the combination of audio and video accelerates my learning and strengthens my ability to recall what I've studied. I highly recommended this for anyone seeking to develop survival skills in Turkish.
