Product Description

Do you start every day with a 'to do' list? Every year with new resolutions? Do you fantasise about winning the lottery, travelling the world or retiring at forty? Many of us dream big but we never truly believe we can achieve our life's ambitions.

But it doesn't have to be like this. It is possible to make dreams come true as Niall Harbison has found out - aged just 33, and within 1000 days of starting a business in his bedroom, he sold it for millions. Before that he had already lived what seemed like a charmed life. As a private chef for billionaires (among other highlights, cooking for Bill Gate's fiftieth birthday) he travelled all over the world, getting paid to do so while enjoying a lifestyle normally reserved for the rich and famous.

But Niall Harbison achieved his dreams despite a serious drink problem and crippling bouts of depression. Now he shares his secrets in Get Sh*t Done! Get Sh*t Done! contains a unique set of principles and a new way of thinking. It includes 'life hacks' that will help you escape the nine-to-five, overcome your limitations and make the things you dream about actually happen - and quicker than you could ever imagine.

Let Niall Harbison be your inspiration. Learn how he got paid to snowboard all day and to surf in Hawaii, still gets paid to go on holiday and has never worked a day in his life. And learn how he doesn't let personal challenges get in the way of his goals. Stop dreaming and instead start getting sh*t done!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not your usual business guide 10 July 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'm not sure if this is really a business book, its more of a mini autobiography with business tips. Thats not to say its a bad book, there are some interesting stories in it and if you know the authors online persona then it does give you some insight into his mindset.

He gives an open & honest account of his battle with booze and depression and very few people want to talk about that, be they be business people or not. It reads at time as a bit of a confession but shows you the drive that he has to get it done.

There is nothing particularly new in this book, you'll get the same advise in plenty of other business books but they are put together in a logical fashion and he does give the appearance that he want to help.

I didnt expect stories about booze, weed, depression, hitting rock bottom but they are a refreshing change of pace from the normal business book.

If I'm honest, based on some of the stuff he posted online, I used to think the chap was an insufferable a*sehole but my opinion has somewhat changed after reading this book

5.0 out of 5 stars Top read: Cover to cover in two days. 23 July 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Excellent and inspiring read. Niall draws on his own experience of success and failure, and delivers a number of valuable lessons through his own personal anecdotes. The book is a good blend of humor, common sense and hard work with a couple of interesting business principles / lessons thrown in. It's certainly a book that I will be reading twice and recommending to other.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely delivers what the title says 7 Aug 2014
By Manuel
Format:Paperback
Usually, I am very suspicious about books that suggest they reveal the path to success, wealth or the sweet life in general. The problem with them is, that there is not the one perfect way to achieve great things, especially one that works for everyone. So, when I was invited to go to the book launch of Get Sh*t Done! by the Irish entrepreneur, chef and author Niall Harbison, I wasn't expecting much, naturally. But from the beginning of the event it was clear that this was a different story. Instead of the author reading parts from his work and taking questions, Niall was actually taking a backseat to the guests he invited. Instead, he moderated a discussion about principles that lead to success. The discussion was very open and casual, yet focused, and the participants did a great job of engaging the audience. Many questions from the crowd were allowed, and one particularly vivid man from the audience was even invited up on the stage to share his thoughts. My doubts were quickly silenced and I started to become very interested in the topic. What also intensified my interest was that I didn't know anything about the author before and that I learnt next to nothing about him during the launch. I wanted to find out what this was all about, so that same night I started reading Get Sh*t Done!

What is obvious from the beginning is that Niall Harbison is doing a great job of making it an easy read. He doesn't use pseudo-motivational psychology terms or fancy business language, he just keeps is simple and to the point. Considering that he tells his story in a very honest and open way, a certain degree in simplicity definitely helps to digest the ups and downs of his life and his career. Niall Harbison uses his ups to remind the reader to set himself goals and go hard after them.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read for anybody 7 July 2014
Format:Paperback
I loved this book. I'm not an avid reader but I found this book a great read. Surprisingly well written, with the odd coloquial humour; Niall has been very honest about his life, opening himself up in the hope that other people can get sh*t done. This book isn't just for aspiring entrepreneurs, but for people who want to improve their quality of life no matter what the profession. My favourite part is the life hacks, can't wait until I get paid to go on holiday :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Honest & Thought Provoking 21 Aug 2014
Format:Paperback
What's remarkable about this book is the honesty of Niall. He delves deep into his personal life and really puts himself out there in terms of the experiences (good and bad) he has had, in particular Chapter 7. Along with many other readers, I would have an impression of him before reading the book that did not tally with the real individual. There are probably better books out there from a pure business perspective but too often these books fail to deal with the personal conflicts and hang ups that inhibit "wantapreneurs". Anyone who has read his LovinDublin blog will be familiar with his devil-may-care writing style, it's very much stream of consciousness which makes this a real pageturner. I really enjoyed a number of the anecdotes be it from working with Conrad Gallagher to being stranded in NYC which were real laugh out loud moments.

5.0 out of 5 stars A business bible must have. 6 Aug 2014
Format:Paperback
This is not your typical business book full of boardroom language, abbreviations and clichés. It’s refreshingly written in plain English, with great tips on how to crack social media, run a business and get paid to go on holiday.
Niall Harbison gives a very honest account of how hard work, failure, self-belief and sheer determination helped him build a global business. It’s an interesting insight of how he transformed his career as a chef traveling around the world cooking for the rich and famous to becoming a successful entrepreneur.
After reading this book you’ll never be able to sit on the sofa, mindlessly watching TV again as Niall’s voice will pop into your head telling to you to “get up off your ass and Get Shit Done!
