Format:Audio CD
Roachford's Get Ready! has to be one of the most underrated albums of all time. It is a great shame that after receiving good commercial success with their first album, they didn't receive the credit they deserved for this brilliant second album. Andrew Roachford is an outstanding lyricist and deals with many themes throughout this recording. These include homelessness, adultery, future environmental meltdown and 'surviving the human race'.
The single track masterpiece is from the title of the album Get Ready ! What the track is about is excellently illustrated on the album cover; as the young musician walking along Hope Street, with the light on green, is about to walk from the darkness into the light. An inspirational track that encourages you to get ready for your own personal dawning.
Most definitely a thinking person's album. Five out of five.

A couple of good songs, but no were near as good as their first CD. Also Pernmanent Shades of Blue is far better CD, which is worth 5 stars....

This is a really great album from the early 90's, mixing pop, soul, blues and a tiny bit of funk. As a follow up to the band's fairly successful eponymous debut, it sadly seemed never quite to reach the same audience, despite being (in my opinion) a much better and more complete album. Listening to it again recently for the first time in many years (my original copy was stolen!) I was struck by the excellent production and soulful vocals of Andrew Roachford, particularly on the title track "Get Ready", "Wanna be Loved", "Innocent Eyes" and the (oddly but effectively Top Gun sampling) "Vision of the Future". Hearing these tracks again took me right back to Summer 1991, but they didn't sound out of date. It's a great album, an under-rated gem.
