Get Ready - Full version 6 Nov. 2012

Get this CD while it is still available on The sound quality is just amazing. The Cd is completely black on the laser side. The song Get Ready is about 21.30 minutes and it is the same version that appears on Rare Earth Earth Tones. Highly recommended.

Not audiophile quality sound 12 Dec. 2012

I won't go into detail about this Rare Earth's first album. There's plenty of info available about it and their iconic performance of the title track "Get Ready". Rather I'll give my impressions of this CD and it's sound quality.

The good news is this CD comes in a faithful paper mini LP reproduction of the original album. Including the LP label and the album's back cover. The songs are the original album versions in their entirety and proper order. The bad is while the songs don't truly suffer from over compression the bass is very dry. There is excellent detail which is to be expected given their 24bit remastering. Also there is excellent layering, soundstage depth and image specificity. There is harshness in the midrange and the top end is on the hot side. This is more noticeable because of the very over damped low end. Because of the very shy bass the overall sound lacks warmth. If you like your rock without any real bass and clinical sounding you may care for this CD. If on the other hand you like rock with a strong bass track pass on this recording.

I bought this Culture Factory CD, and their other Rare Earth CD "Ecology", with high hopes because of the claimed "audiophile" quality 24bit remastering. I was sadly disappointed in both. From reviews I've read of some other of CF's 24 bit remastering this light bass issue seems to plague many of their recordings. For better sound of Rare Earth's full length album versions purchase the Millenium Collection CD. Very good SQ there.

Back in time 10 Jan. 2013

I chose this Cd because I once owned this on vinyl. I would listen to the long version of "Get Ready" I enjoyed the drum solo, bass, lead guitars. I would recommend this CD to anyone who remembers the beginning of the 70's.

This From a Jazz Head 22 May 2013

As I am a Jazz head and have been for over 30 yrs, feel free to take this review with a grain of salt.
I consider the cut " Get ready " by Rare Earth to be one of the greatest recorded records EVER. Before I was into jazz I had this on album. I often wonder if these guys were possessed by Satan(In a good way) when they were playing or did someone tell them that their lives depended on how they played that day; I don't know. What I do know is that there is a since of musicianship in my view that was nothing short of cosmic. Rocking the guitar in a way that would send Carlos Santana off scratching his head in wonder. This is one of the few CD's that I would pay 20.00 for JUST for "Get Ready" Do not let their looks fool you. BTW I already had the regular CD as well as the other CD where they rock Get ready to another level. The cover of that one looks like a back pack. I call that version the " Lets do it again but with a little bit of Acid" version. This remastered version is very clean and adds extra enjoyment to the listening experience.

I like to play this when the wife and kids are out of the house so I can crank it up to the proper level. I use to think (in my younger day)that one needed to be spaced out of his head to get the full affect of this cut. Later I realized that the Song itself would get you high to the point of bordering on a controlled substance Anyway I'm just a jazz guy so take it for what it's worth, but one thing for sure; i know what I like, and I love this.
