Product Description

This is an easy-to-follow, and practical guide to getting the most from the world's most popular imaging software, Adobe Photoshop. 'Get the Most from Photoshop' is organised around accessible projects that show the reader how to achieve specific end results. It covers all commonly used versions of Photoshop, including notes on changes in later versions and tips on how the techniques can be adapted to Photoshop Elements.

Highly illustrated with photographs and screengrabs, this inspirational yet practical book will be invaluable to any digital camera owner who wants to master all the essential Photoshop techniques. Extracts and tips from the book... Whether your shooting with the latest digital SLR or scanning old photos from a shoebox, the chances are that your images will need a little help in order to really shine. This chapter looks at some of Photoshop s essential tools for correcting, enhancing and if necessary, completely transforming your photographs.

Transparent areas can be created in any unlocked layer simply by deleting pixels. The problem with this approach permanently removing parts of the layer is that any deleted pixels cannot be restored later in the processing of an image. This can be a serious problem if you discover at some point later that your original editing was less than perfect, at which point you are faced with a stark choice; live with the problem or start all over again.

Photoshop s automatic colour correction tools work well, but they re far from foolproof. When all else fails, using Curves you can remover colour casts and white balance problems numerically without having to rely on the accuracy of your computer screen or your own eyesight.

This is one of several Photoshop "how to" books that I've bought and I must say it's by far the best. I saw a review of it in Amateur Photographer magazine where they gave it 5/5 so thought I would give it a go.It is very straightforward, has great explanations and allows you to dip in and out depending on what type of edit you want. This book has replaced a folder full of saved magazine articles-it has most of the tips you'll ever need.

Photoshop CS4 9 Nov 2009
Format:Paperback
Probably one of the best Photoshop books for those who already know the basics, if you don't then Photoshop CS for Dummies is a good starting point before moving on to this one. It is a very heavy volume and best used as a reference manual - don't get any ideas about sitting on the train and reading it from cover to cover and then going home to work your magic, this book has a lot of info and a DVD and unless you are someone who uses CS4 everyday as part of your work don't even think about remembering everything it covers. Perfect for solving those niggly problems you often get but cannot sort out.
