Product Description

Product Description

Get Lost! is back. The new, 11th edition sizzles with the freshest and most exciting things to do in Amsterdam. Opinionated, but never irreverent, Get Lost! remains the only guide to cover Amsterdam's underground culture accurately and extensively. Get Lost! leads travelers to the cheapest, funkiest and most delicious spots in town: Inexpensive organic restaurants, cool bars and clubs, an array of alternative museums and galleries, mind-expanding cafes, one- of- a-kind shops, theme hotels--even the kinkiest Red-Light-District corners. Readers trust the Cool Guide for practical information that every visitor needs--accommodation, transport, weather, etc. But they also read it for the lowdown on more obscure topics, like local pirate radio, fair trade cannabis and the Amsterdam squat scene. As always, Get Lost! is printed on post consumer paper and uses soy-based ink. With this legendary guide, every traveler has a cool friend in Amsterdam.

About the Author

Aaron James Cole was born in California, but has resided in Amsterdam full time for the last 13 years. He is a world traveler, an experienced journalist, a performer/musician and an expert on Amsterdam underground culture.

Extremely useful information. I had a great trip, because I referred to this book every day. He knows all the best spots and makes it easy to find exactly what you want - the best weed or hash in the world, the best call girls... Thanks for writing this book - I had a blast!!!

Great Book 8 Feb 2005

Been to Amsterdam twice before and can it be a bit daunting because there is so much to do and see. This book has given me lots of ideas of what to do and where to go on my next trip. I'm a Veggie and was not aware of how many eating places there were for me. Also loved all the web site info so I can check these places out before I get there, this will stop us wandering around and save loads of time so we can fit in as much as we can. The only bad point is the map, it's awful!

Amsterdam is a city for adventures and exploration and sadly, without a little pre-planning you may find yourself going round in circles, whilst only making the occasional find. This book is the Indiana Jones of the guide book world. My only gripe is that I have been to Amsterdam twice without it, but this year will be different. Written in a style anyone in the free-minded and spirited generation will greatly appreciate - it prepares you to embark on exploring this City of Deviants with an enthusiasm and insight that is rarely found. The map in the middle pages I found was fine, easy enough to read and highlight those streets containing the dens of iniquity. If you are planning on Amsterdam this year - buy this book, but hey, buy it anyway and your alternative travel arrangements may soon be on the back burner... It is that good.

LOVE THIS BOOK!
A refreshing guide book, which is not written as your usual guide book. It is humourous whilst being informative, and has all you need to get your way around 'Dam :) Great buy!

Reasonably Handy
I bought this book mainly for the map and the guide to the eateries of 'dam, and it did a good enough job. The map is a good size, but would work better if it was in colour. Read more

Clever guide book
This was really easy to follow, aimed at tourists from America but useful to Europeans too. We followed a lot of the advice and definitely saved some money by using this guide. Read more

Not great
Amazon did fine as always, fast delivery. This book however is utter rubbish. I would not recommend it if you are visiting Amsterdam.
