If you're planning a holiday to Italy and you have n't left much time to learn the basics then this is for you. Its not exactly in depth, but it is the vocabulary you will actually use. While some language courses teach you about how to introduce yourself and say where you work etc, this teaches you the useful stuff such as ordering drinks, understanding the menu and asking directions.

The book itself has a good amount of info in, both in phrases, and also must see sights in various tourist hotspots.
The book is laid out very well, and gives good information, without being overwhelming of those of us without a strong knowledge of the language!
One thing I would fault it on is lack of a phonetic prononciation guide. The tape edition would clear up any confusion on this, but it's not always convenient to stick on your walkman during a conversation to check these things!
