Any prospective dog owners should be well informed before getting a dog especially German Shepherds as they can be quite a demanding dog, however the pros will far outweigh the cons and I cannot recommend this breed more highly. And now to the book.
Part one contains an interesting history of the German Shepherd and a section on behaviour and training essential reading if you are to understand your dog and vice versa.
Part two is about caring for your dog from puppy to adulthood and includes a section on showing. This is a very informative section and essential knowledge.
Part three is focused on health care and goes through the various diseases and illnesses that the German Shepherd can be prone to (quite a few). Also included is breeding and first aid. I found this book to be invaluable with helping to care for my own dog. Its depressing and disheartening to see so many of the bigger dogs rejected and abandoned when they outgrow the cute puppy stage. All we need is information and education ,this book goes a long way in providing both.
