Baked many of the recipes and love it. I ordered both this book, which is a 2010 publication, and the 2003 edition as I wasn't sure what the difference was. They are almost identical,but the 2010 seem to have been adapted for international use and otherwise (some recipes improved/omitted, changed quantities etc), so I kept this and sent back the 2003 edition.

A recipe per page with a photo for each recipe, which is very helpful, beautiful looking cakes. Evident translation from German, awkward at times but harmless.

A very nice collection of beautiful cakes made a bit differently to the way I am used to and some new fresh cake ideas, which makes it even more interesting and exactly what I had been looking for.

This isn't a bible for German baking, but my German girlfriend found loads of her favourite baking items in here. It is clear, concise and gives a lot of recipies to try out. For anyone who loves baking this is a good book to add to your library, but maybe not so much for the advanced baker.

I absolutely love this cookbook. I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it. I love opening it on a random page when I feel like doing some baking. All the recipes are very good, there is a lot of information at the front and at the back of the book (convertors etc.)

This is a nicely printed book with lots of interesting recipes. Initially I bought a copy of this book and 'German Cooking Today' for someone else for Christmas but when I had a look at it, I ordered an extra copy for myself. There are all kinds of cakes and biscuits in the book and the recipes in the book vary from the very simple to the complicated. There is one in there for a cake built up of multiple layers of cake mixture that is quickly cooked under a grill that I recognise as having been in the finals of this years 'Bake Off' on television! Most of the recipes though are straight forward and will enable anyone to cook 'homely' cakes or perhaps have a go at something a bit more sophisticated (definitely in the 'homely' camp myself).

I have German/Austrian family so ordered this and another German baking book as I wanted to recreate family traditions long lost.

It is a lovely book - full of easy to follow recipes, not long-winded but easy to understand and follow for even the most amateur baker so if this is your bag, highly recommended.

The only reason I returned it is because I already have two thick Dr Oetker cookbooks and many of the recipes in this book were already in the books I owned, so I ordered another book instead.

For those who don't own any Dr Oetker books but who want to learn some different cakes etc, this is highly recommended.

The best recipe baking book I have purchased in many years! The recipes are laid out nicely, they are clear and easy to read, with not just a list of ingredients but the baking tray sizes as well and a lovely coloured picture for each recipe.
There are many old favourites in this book as well, it is in English with English weights and measures plus cups as well. I am very impressed with this book, it is well laid out and very readable with a nice sturdy cover.
Well worth the money.

Bought this for my wife who loves it - she has her mother's books but these are printed in German and, although translation is not too difficult, this book has resulted in all the family enjoying recipes which her mother used to bake. I can recommend this to others who are familiar with the excellent cakes and pastries of the country and want to make these at home.
Please note there are other books available in the series but many are printed in German.
